The Annual Eebudola Bakare Memorial Essay Writing Competition is instituted to celebrate the inspiring life of Mama Abigail Eebudola Bakare, the Matriarch of the family of the iconic Serving Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare. Mama lived well, died well, and gave Pastor Tunde Bakare to humanity, as a timeless gift to impact generations, long after her passage to eternity.

The Memorial Essay Writing Competition will hold twice a year, through the mediums of Yoruba and English Language. The first for the year, which will always hold in the month of May, by God’s special grace, will serve as a reminder of May 5, 2018, when Mama exited the planet earth. This will be done through the medium of Yoruba Language. In essence, it will be a Yoruba Essay Writing Competition. This is also to remind us, that while mama was with us, she was a Yoruba Language purist, who communicated, instructed and taught impeccably in Yoruba Language.

Given its outlook, the Yoruba Essay Writing Competition will be organised within the South-West, the predominant domain of Yoruba speaking people of Nigeria. However, the maiden Yoruba Essay Writing Competition will come up next year, 2020. This is to be done together with the empowerment of some operators of Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SMEs).

The second Essay Writing Competition for the year will always hold in the month of October, by God’s special grace, to coincide with mama’s posthumous birthday on October 28, of every year. This will be an English Language Essay Writing Competition. This will be organized simultaneously in all the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. The inaugural edition takes place in October 2019.

The Annual Eebudola Bakare Memorial Essay Writing Competition is focused on students in Senior Secondary Schools across Nigeria. It exists as a platform to positively impact the knowledge of English Language in students nationwide; inculcate in them the desire and drive for academic excellence, with the English Language being the medium of expression in all academic subjects; flag off a healthy competition among them; inspire constructive engagement and scholarship in them, while stirring up in them the zeal to contribute their own quota to the development of Nigeria.

The organisers of the Competition are set to work in close concert with the various Ministries of Education and a team of seasoned educationists and examiners, to confer on the annual competition an enviable and sustainable status of excellence, eminence and sophistication.

At the end of every essay writing competition, both the winners and the schools that produced them will be well rewarded.
